Magickal Uses of Bittersweet Nightshade Bittersweet nightshade is a variety of nightshade that’s less poisonous than deadly nightshade. You can find bittersweet nightshade growing on the side of the road, near trees and along fences. Caution should be used when handling or harvesting this variety because it is poisonous. There are herbal remedies that use bittersweet nightshade but unless you are a trained herbalist, you should NOT consume this plant, burn this plant or apply it to your skin in any way. Make sure to store bittersweet nightshade far away from children and your beloved familiars. HOW TO MAKE RED CLOVER TINCTURE & THE HEALTH BENEFITS

Red Clover is a sweet smelling herb that is an excellent source of phytoestrogen. It has many health benefits for women, such as treating PMS, Menopause, and Osteoporosis. It has also been shown to aid in cardiovascular health as well as preventing cancer cells from growing.  Red clover contains valuable nutrients including calcium, chromium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, thiamine, and vitamin C. 

RED CLOVER TINCTURE RECIPE

  1. Harvest the fragrant flowers from areas away from busy roads or any type of possible pollution. Wear gloves and use scissors to clip the tops
  2. Only harvest what you need to fill a small mason jar and always leave an offering.  I usually leave unsalted sunflower seeds
  3. DO NOT WASH THE FLOWER
  4. Place enough Red Clover flowers in your mason jar until they reach the top
  5. Pour 80 proof or higher vodka into the mason jar only half-way.  Use a spoon to stir the Red Clovers and make sure there are no air pockets.  Continue to fill the mason jar with vodka until it reaches the top.  Be careful not to leave any air gaps
  6. Place the lid on the mason jar and shake
  7. Label your jar with date, time, and contents
  8. Store in a cool, dry place and make sure to shake at least once a day for the next 2-3 weeks
  9. When ready, strain the tincture through a very fine filter.  You may have to do this a couple of times to ensure there are no particles in your tincture
  10. Pour in dark dropper bottles and ouila!!

ADULT DOSAGE

60 - 100 drops, 3 times per day under the tongue or added to tea.  Always consult your doctor when treating any condition or before using.

THE MAGICK OF THE LADY SLIPPER (Cypripedium acaule Ait.) Whenever I would go mushroom harvesting with my grandmother, she’d point out the Lady Slippers, tell me they were magickal, and that I should NEVER pick them.  I believed the faeries lived in the beautiful pink bulbs and still do. The root of lady’s slipper was used as a remedy for nervousness, tooth pain, and muscle spasms. In the 1800s and 1900s it was widely used as a substitute to valerian root for sedative properties.  However, it takes many years for this magickal plant to mature and therefore it is illegal in many states to harvest wild Lady Slippers.  If you spot one in the wild, take a moment to be present with the plant, feel the energy, or take a picture, but NEVER uproot or pick the flower.  If you must have the energetic essence of a wild Lady Slipper, with great caution and care, place the bulb in a glass of spring water just before dawn.  Allow the Lady Slipper to infuse overnight under the Moon.  Upon waking, drink the water.  Also known as Moccasin Flower or in the language of the Ojibway, ma-ki-sin-waa-big-waan, there are many Native American legends surrounding this beautiful flower. Lady Slippers are usually found in the eastern part of the United States near forests of pine and hemlock, near mossy slopes, and under the watchful eye of a birch tree. Pine sap has many practical and magickal uses which makes it an excellent collection to your magickal supply closet! Harvesting Pine Sap Pine sap oozes out of pine trees when the tree is injured. The sap is the way the pine tree heals itself. When harvesting the sap, make sure not to harvest too much. Only harvest from pine trees where there is a lot of sap build-up and leave enough so that the tree’s wound is left well covered by sap. Always thank the tree after harvesting your sap.
