THE MAGICKAL & HEALING PROPERTIES OF HEMATITE People once to referred to hematite as a “blood stone” in the Middle Ages because the water it was cleaned in would turn a dark, blood red. This is due to the high iron content in hematite. Hematite was frequently used in mourning jewelry during the 18th & 19th century and it was even ground up into a powder to make a beautiful red blush. Hematite is one of my favorite stones because of it’s ability to assist one in staying grounded & centered. It is a must-have stone in everyone’s crystal/mineral collection! Magickal Uses: Hematite is an excellent stone to use for psychic protection. It wards off negativity, grounds nervous energy and will help protect you from any incorrect magick that may be sent your way. When used to assist in astral travel, hematite helps to protect you on your journey. Carry or wear hematite if you have trouble focusing/calming your mind during spellwork or meditation. It will help you concentrate and will assist you in focusing your mind on one thing. A large, polished piece of hematite also makes a wonderful scrying mirror!
